When my uncle passed away, I inherited a guitar, his guitar: a Jacobbaci Royal 1959, a marvel. He called it "the lady", and it accompanied him throughout his life. My father also played this guitar, and so the lady is a part of our family. I remember long afternoons of jazz when I was a child. On those afternoons, my uncle would sit at his organ, my father would take the lady, and both of them would exhaust the themes of Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery. Some fifty years later, I enjoyed playing the same jazz on the same guitar as a tribute to the guitar giants who influenced my childhood. Above all, it is a tribute to the lady, in memory of my father, my uncle, my uncles, who all mean so much to me.
To Alain, Daniel, Robert, René. For the lady.

The City Lounge : Une voiture douce et confortable. Conduite souple, droit devant, sans but. Auto-radio sur les bretelles d’accès. Entrée en ville, fenêtres ouvertes, emballement général. Quartiers agités, bruyants : sons, musiques, voix, vacarme.

A smooth and comfortable car. Smooth driving, straight ahead, aimlessly. Car radio on the access ramps. Entering the city, windows open, general excitement. Busy and noisy neighborhoods: sounds, music, voices, uproar. People talking, shouting, and screaming. A red light. In the rain, a woman. Maybe heaven. No, fatigue, weariness. And again, the city, the noise, the circus. Everything starts over and over again, always. You drive. You won't sleep. It will be endless. But excellent musicians accompany you. Everything is fine.
